ENDORSEMENTS
“I knew Dr. Likoudis for some twenty-five years and had the occasion, almost annually, to visit with him about theological questions. I was always edified by the depth and charity of his conversations with me. Dr. Likoudis’ work as the author of numerous books and articles significantly contributed to clarifying and enhancing the relations between the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Churches. His numerous lectures on various theological themes evinced purity of doctrine, clarity of thought, and an edifying charity. In his many appearances, at some of which I was privileged to be present, he habitually comported himself as a man of learning, urbanity, and kindness. In short, he is regarded as a true Christian scholar.”

“James Likoudis was a courageous defender of the faith and a gentle ‘man of the Church.’ It is praiseworthy that this new Foundation has been established in his honor, and is working to preserve and build upon his remarkable legacy. I support its efforts in promoting his scholarly contributions, particularly in fostering ecumenical dialogue with Eastern Orthodoxy. May this initiative enrich the Church’s pursuit of Christian unity.”

“I have known James Likoudis for half of my life and a third of his. I met him around the time I was received into the Catholic Church in 1986, and he has been a good guide for me. He is himself a convert, and he recognizes that conversion—any conversion—is not the matter of a moment. It is the love of a lifetime. I have been working in the Catholic world for almost four decades now, but I've known few people who have such a passion for the apostolate and for Christian unity.”

“...several thinkers I admire and respect. Let me mention, among others, . . . James Likoudis.”

“Dr. Likoudis is a wonderful example of how to dialogue with the Orthodox about important differences without falling into a rigid fundamentalism that refuses to see grace present in the Orthodox church.”

“Likoudis occupies a singular place in the literature of his time. Faithful, yet not crazy. I think a good many people appreciate him for his careful judgments about the post-conciliar situation as it was developing. Very few people got it so right.”

“Of like witness to the complementary goals of defending the “whole truth about Mary,” and the imperative for Christian Unity as profoundly embodied by Pope St. John Paul the Great, James Likoudis also comprises a contemporary theological and catechetical voice for full Mariological truth, not as an obstacle, but rather as a means to authentic ecumenical unity.“

“James Likoudis was one of several mentors from whom I was privileged to learn when I was struggling to become more effective in defending and advancing the Catholic faith, in my twenties. Likoudis was already established as a proponent of authentic Catholic renewal, a leading opponent of [secularly-driven] sex education in school, and a champion of the Magisterium.”

"In our modern era of mass communication, the Ecumenical work of reunion will not be carried out in full without lay involvement. And there is, perhaps, no member of the laity of either of the 'two lungs' of apostolic faith that has done more to further the dialogue than James Likoudis."

“In the field of Catholic-Orthodox dialogue, James Likoudis figures as one of the most prominent Catholic apologists.”
Jose Pereira, PhDProfessor Emeritus of Theology, Fordham University
“James Likoudis is a noted Catholic writer on the separated Eastern Churches. There is much to be learned from his stirring accounts of Easterners who embraced their true home, the Catholic Church.”

“For many years . . . James Likoudis has been a tireless laborer for fraternal dialogue between Catholic and Orthodox Christians. Few know these two ecclesial worlds so thoroughly and few can so successfully untie the knots of misunderstanding that have gotten in the way of reconciliation.”
