Scholars, clergy, and practitioners united by a common mission
A convert to the Catholic Church in 1952 from Eastern Orthodoxy, James Likoudis devoted over seventy years to a single project: the scholarly and pastoral case for Catholic-Orthodox reunion. He is regarded as a leading authority on Ecumenism, the Papacy, Catechetics, and the role of the Laity in the Church.
He authored more than ten books and over 300 scholarly essays, and was awarded an honorary doctorate of divinity from Sacred Heart Major Seminary in 2020. He was married to his wife Ruth for 71 years and is the father of six, with thirty-five grandchildren and forty-five great-grandchildren.
